We are a professional and experienced group of aviation consultants, providing qualified and impartial advice for Aviation solutions in Africa, to facilitate world-class standards and regulatory compliance.

John has over twenty-five years of Multifaceted experience within the Aviation Industry including, Pilot – Commercial Helicopter, AOC post holder positions Accountable Manager, Responsible Person Flight Operations and Air Services Safety Officer. John also has vast experience in Quality Management, Administrative Management, Airport Management, Facility Management, Air Traffic Controller and Aircraft technical.

John started his professional career with the South African Air Force, where he qualified as a radio technician, thereafter qualifying as an ATC which included an Officers’ course. In 1994, John joined Air Traffic and Navigation Services at Johannesburg International Airport, where he held a variety of supervisory and ATC related positions.

Early in 1998, John transferred to Margate Airport, where he was responsible for the entire Airport Operation. This included financial performance in respect of sales (+- Thirty million Rand), Budgeted expenditure, administration, airport operations, facility management including Airside, Landside and Terminal, lease and contract negotiations, building and facility maintenance and upgrades, tenant liaison, aircraft operations, airport safety and security, event organization and coordination and negotiations (specifically governmental negotiations). During this period, John also held Accountable Manager positions for Colard Air a Part 135 AOC holder and Presidential Flight Training Academy Part 141 ATO.

In 2006 he joined Alpine Aviation, where he held the Post Holders position of Responsible Person Flight Operations and Quality Manager. His role involved managing all aspects of the company’s Flight Operations and Quality Assurance program. As a member of the senior management team, John was also involved in Safety and Security Planning and promoting the safety of Alpine Aviation. John progressed to General Manager where he was responsible for crew rosters, flight clearances, aircraft maintenance programme, office management, safety and audit

procedures, SACAA interaction and protocol. During his time at Alpine, Aviation John initiated and had approved a Part 138 air ambulance operation and a Mozambique Air Operators for Alpine Aviation.

John has been trained in an array of issues including holding a diploma in Transportation management, Quality Assurance Management; Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Crew Resource Management, Aviation Security, Basic X- Ray Screening, X-Ray Interpretation, Air Safety Management, Fuel Quantity and Quality, Aeronautical Search Mission Coordinator, Airside Safety and holds a Commercial Pilots License with Night / Test Pilot II and Turbine ratings.

John Cole is the founding member of Aviation Consulting Services a business he started in 2009, based in Johannesburg. Since launching John has assisted over fifty companies to obtain their Air Service Licenses, Air Operators Certificates and become operational. He has also carried out numerous audits and projects for various aviation companies throughout the African continent.

Earlier this year, John started Aviation Consulting Services for the expanding interest in RPAS operations and the ever-increasing demands of Regulatory Control.

John is passionate about all operational aspects of aviation, with a particular interest in aviation safety and helicopter operations.
